Perhaps one of the most memorable experiences I have had in Barcelona is witnessing local musicians play while people dance together on the street, fronting the Cathedral. I really was so lucky to have seen this. It was late in the afternoon and I was kinda lost into the maze of structures around Las Ramblas, when I found the street heading to the Cathedral.
It was a street that goes uphill, where lots of people also go. So I headed that way, with my hungry curiosity, not minding about my aching feet and legs. There I heard a music of an orchestra. There I saw people dancing through live music. The people dancing were not just elderly but also young people. It reflects how old and young can be drawn together in a simple occasion. It was such a wonderful experience. Check out this video below. (I own all the copyrights).
Live music is an ordinary scenario in this part of the world. Many of them are small time musicians but nonetheless very talented ones playing in some random streets. It doesn't hurt if you spare them some coins. After all, they make the streets of Barcelona extra interesting and more lively. There is a flea market right in front of the cathedral, on the right side. It showcases nice, old collections of Catalonian locals. It is really nice.
wow, amazing photo of the cathedral:) so inspiring!
